[A Pacific Pearl Company]

The Illustrated London News, vol. 46, no. 1318, p. 534.

June 3, 1865

A Pacific Pearl Company has been formed at New York, the capital of which is 1,000,000 dols. The company purpose fishing for pearls and pearl shells on the Pacific coast. Their operations will be carried on by means of a submarine explorer. Pearl oysters abound in the Gulf of California, and it has been fished by the natives for 300 years.
