[The Trunks of Two Trees]

The Illustrated London News, vol. 43, no. 1233, p. 538.

November 28, 1863

The trunks of two trees have been sent from the battle-field of Gettysburg for the Massachusetts and Pennsylvania Historical Societies, one of them having 250 bullet-holes in the space of 21 feet, and the other 110.
