[The Steamer Chancellor]

The Illustrated London News, vol. 43, no. 1223, p. 310.

September 26, 1863

The steamer Chancellor, at St. Louis, from Memphis, has on board a 36-pounder that was captured in 1846 in Mexico by the United States' forces, and was again recaptured from the Confederates at Vicksburg, on July 4, 1863. The gun was made in France Nov. 26, 1768.
