[In the Federal Army].

The Illustrated London News, vol. 42, no. 1204, p. 559.

In the Federal army there are 74 Major-Generals, whose pay is 5000 dols. each per annum. A Major-General is allowed three aides-de-camp, whose pay is 1500 dols. each. There are 284 Brigadier-Generals, whose pay is 4000 dols. each per annum. Every Brigadier-General has two aides-de-camp; their pay is 1500 dols. each.--New York Tribune.
