[A Mournful Catastrophe]

The Illustrated London News, vol. 42, no. 1187, p. 134.

February 7, 1863

A mournful catastrophe occurred at Harpersville, in the State of New York, on the 12th ult. Thirty-seven ladies and gentlemen were skating on a pond, when the ice gave way, and twenty-seven were drowned.
