[The Alta-California of Oct. 1]

The Illustrated London News, vol.41, no.1174, p.511.

November 15, 1862

The Alta-California of Oct. 1 says:--"The despatches which we publish to-day were transmitted from Chicago, Illinois, to Carson City, Nevada Territory, direct, a distance of over two thousand three hundred miles, the longest circuit overland that the current has ever worked over."
