[The Episcopal Church at Fairfax]

The Illustrated London News, vol. 39, no. 1121, p. 612.

December 14, 1861

The Episcopal Church at Fairfax Court house, in Virginia, has been detroyed by the Confederate and Federal troops. The church was one of the oldest in the United States. It was built by Lord Fairfax, and the pulpit and altar were constructed in England. It was in this church and at this altar that George Washington was married.
